Founder's Note : On Making Fewer Things
When we started TREY, we knew one thing:
We didn't want to make thousands of identical things.
Not because growth is wrong. But because some things are lost when scale becomes the only goal.
There is value in knowing how big you don't want to become.
Making in small batches costs more. It is slower and less predictable. But it allows us to pay attention. To experiment. To work with beautiful materials that larger manufacturers might overlook. To make pieces with character rather than products by formula.
What small batches allow us to do
• Pay attention to details
• Experiment with colours and materials
• Use industry-surplus leather thoughtfully
• Make pieces with character, not formulas
Will we grow? We hope so. But not at the cost of becoming ordinary.
Growth matters. But so does restraint.
That's why we make few.
Thoughtfully.
So that what you carry feels a little more personal, and a little less like something made for everyone.
